SALISBURY - Ruben William Joyner, 96, of 3960 Mt. Hope Church Road, died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at his home.

Born October 29, 1911, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Joyner was son of the late Fred and Dora Bell Furr Joyner. He was educated in the Rowan County schools and retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 1. Mr. Joyner was a life member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Lee Pennington Joyner; son Fred Joyner (Donnell) of Salisbury; daughters Pauline Pinion of Concord, Betty Johnson (John) of Kannapolis and Blondine Dickerson of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister Jessie Palmer of Tobaccoville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ conducted by the Rev. David Crook, pastor. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Friday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, 7004 Old Concord Road , Salisbury, NC.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, is assisting the Joyner family in making arrangements for their loved one.
