Tommy Hoffner

ROCKWELL -- Thomas Eugene "Tommy" Hoffner, 73, Rockwell, died Sunday (March 16, 2003) at his home.

Born Jan. 18, 1930, in Davidson County, Mr.Hoffner was a son of the late Victor Leslie and Gaither Viola Stoner Hoffner. He attended Rowan County schools and graduated from Reisch Auctioneer School in Mason City, Iowa, in 1958.

He was an auctioneer at Rimertown Auction Livestock Barn for 44 years and also auctioneered in Lexington. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, where he formerly sang in the choir. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Vanhoy-Sells VFW Post 9134.

Survivors include wife Jean Ball Hoffner, whom he married Dec. 27, 1962; brother Jim Hoffner, Rockwell; and sisters Doris Holloway, Enochville, Grace Durham, Kannapolis, Pauline Scott, Rimertown, Margaret Miller, Salisbury, and Willie Fesperman, Lexington.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Grace Bible Church, conducted by the Rev. Alan Misenheimer, pastor, and the Rev. Buddy Hoffner, pastor of Bible Missionary Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial, church cemetery with military rites by the Rowan County Veterans Council.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Powles Funeral Home. The rest of the time, the family will be at the residence.
