Lorene Hoffner Barringer
Mrs. Lorene Hoffner Barringer, known to all as “Grandma Weenie”, 86, of Salisbury, NC passed away Thursday, October 04, 2012 at her home after a brief illness.
Born March 1, 1926 in Rowan County she was the daughter of the late Clementine Reid Hoffner and Dave Linn Hoffner.
Educated in Rockwell schools, she was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. She loved music, fishing, working in her yard and was a competitive card player. She enjoyed attending the China Grove Senior Feeding site.
Preceding her in death was her husband, C.P. Barringer, Sr.; brothers, Richard, Odell, Fred, Robert, Grover, J.L. Hoffner; sisters, Ruth Boger, Velna Basinger, Jessie Viola, Lottie Little, Ada Oates, and an infant, along with a sister in law, Sarah Lee Boden.
Surviving are son, C.P. Barringer and wife Pam of Virginia; daughter, Pat B. Smith, husband Bill of Salisbury; brother, Claude Hoffner of High Point, NC; and sisters, Jenny Kirk, Bea Snider and Betty Cauble; sister in law Sharon Snider; and brother in law Wayne Barringer . There are six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren surviving.
The family will see friends Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 from 10-11 at Summersett Funeral Home with funeral services following at 11 AM in the Summersett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Hefner officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
