Edith Honeycutt Eagle

MOUNT PLEASANT - Mrs. Edith Adeline Honeycutt Eagle, 93 of North Drive, Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at her residence. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she had been a member for over 60 years, officiated by Rev. Mitchell Wilson and Rev. Lynn Upchurch, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Eagle family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday evening at Gordon Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. Eagle was born Feb. 5, 1917 in Cabarrus County daughter of the late William Reid Honeycutt and Edith Kathleen Eudy Honeycutt. She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. Prior to her retirement she worked for more than 33 years in the cafeterias at Mount Pleasant Elementary, Mount Pleasant Middle School and Mount Pleasant High School.

She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years and was the Treasurer of the Martha Bigham Circle. She had previously been awarded lay person of the year.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Eagle, in 1972.

Survivors include her son, Frank Eagle and wife, Kathy, of Morehead City; daughter, Thyra Drye and husband Doug of Mount Pleasant; brothers, William Reid Honeycutt and wife, Betty, of Mount Pleasant, and J. David Honeycutt of Albemarle; sister, Mae Block of Concord; grandchildren, Lynn Eagle and wife, Ginger, Mark Drye and wife, Amanda, of Concord, Trent Drye and wife, Jennifer, of Oakboro; great-grandchildren, Darren and Meredith Eagle, Madison, Addie and Larson Rose Drye.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, especially Tabitha Hobday and Latricia Chastian; Janie Sapp and Michelle Sapp: Carolina Home Care, especially Shelia Mullis and Mount Pleasant Family Physicians Dr. Brent Kelly and Dr. Mary Gentry.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care, Kannapolis; or Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Martha Bigham Circle; or to the donors choice.
