Annie Mae Brewer Carter Goodwin
ROCKWELL - Annie Mae Brewer Carter Goodwin, 91, of Rockwell, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at her residence.
Born May 24, 1919, in Hickory, she was the daughter of the late Alpha Woosley Brewer and Raymond Brewer.
She was a very active member of Faith Baptist Church, where she taught the Annie Mae Sunday School Class, which was her namesake. She was a former deacon and was active in Rowan Baptist Association.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Rev. John E. Carter; second husband R.C. Goodwin; stepdaughter Betty Goodwin; and grandson Jonathan Barger. She was the last survivor of 11 children.
Survivors include sons John Carter, Jr. (Della) of Hampstead, Jimmy Carter (Marsha) of China Grove, Hayden Carter (Carol) of Greensboro; daughters Alpha Barger (Ronald) of Rockwell, Iola "Oley" Parker (Wendell) of China Grove; son R.C. Goodwin (Barbara) of Stallings; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Service: Visitation is 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1 at Faith Baptist Church, 203 N. Main St., Faith; and at other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Alpha Barger. The service will begin at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary. The Rev. Dr. Charles R. Brawley will officiate. Burial will be private.
Memorials: Rowan Regional Hospice.
