Helen "Gladys" Goodnight

KANNAPOLIS - Helen "Gladys" Goodnight, 84, formerly of 119 S. East Ave., passed away Monday evening at CMC-NorthEast after a long illness.

Gladys was born on March 1, 1923. in Cabarrus County. the daughter of Fred Cauble and Daisy Ludwig Cauble.

Gladys was the loving wife of Kyle Reed Goodnight Sr. for 68 years. Gladys was "Nana" to so many people. She loved everyone and never met a stranger. She was loved by many. Gladys worked for Cannon Mills in Kannapolis and Virginia's Dress Store.

Gladys is survived by her husband, Kyle Reed Goodnight Sr.; sons, Kyle Reed Goodnight Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Parkton, Md. and Randall David Goodnight and wife, Dovie, of Concord; daughter, Judy Goodnight Pittman and husband, Ralph, of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Greg Franklin of Maggie Valley, Rhonda Franklin of Maggie Valley, John Franklin of Indiana, Carla Furr of Kannapolis, Kevin Goodnight of Kent Island, Md., Amy Elseroad of Reisterstown, Md.; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times, the family will be at the home of her son, Randall Goodnight, 814 Waverly Court, Concord.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at New Hope Worship Center in Concord. Pastor Dale Jenkins, Pastor David Giles and Pastor Tom Snipes will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Dr. Giltz Croley, Dr. Paul Campbell and the wonderful ICU medical staff of CMC-NorthEast.

Gladys was loved dearly by her family and will be missed deeply.
