ROCKWELL - Mrs. Mary Lucille Miller Thomas, 91, of Rockwell, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Genesis Healthcare in Salisbury.

She was born Jan. 4, 1923, in Rowan County to the late George D. and Janie Campbell Miller. Mary was a 1941 graduate of Rockwell High School and retired after 45 years of service at Cannon Mills, Plant No. 1.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she always helped with flowers and decorating the cross for the Easter Celebration. Mary loved her church and was active with Immanuel Senior Citizens and the Women's Circle of the church.

She loved flowers, baking pound cakes and music.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Melvin Thomas, on Feb. 5, 2011, to whom she was married July 5, 1953; and brothers Willard "Monk" Miller and Hulon Miller.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret "Tee" Hall of Matthews; nephews David Hall of Washington, D.C., Toney Hall of Richmond, Va., and Eddie Hall of Matthews; nieces Deloris Shank of Salisbury and Kelli Corl of Midland; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Saturday, March 22 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rockwell.

Service: The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the church, conducted by Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: May be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC.
