Thursday, September 8, 2011 — Charlie Adam Lambert, 84, of Norwood, passed away Wednesday morning, September 7, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2011, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Albemarle. Rev. Judy Copeland will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.

Mr. Lambert was born November 13, 1926 in Stanly County to the late Ellis William and Auta Mae Hinson Lambert.

He was a retired plant manager of Dennis Concrete; he retired in 1992 after 35 years. He was a faithful member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, and was a WWII Army Veteran having served in Germany. Charlie was a past Jaycee, Civitan and volunteer at Central Elementary School where he read with the students and entertained them with his dog, Angel.

He was an avid fan of racing, enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating on Lake Tillery. Charlie’s memory will live on through his grandchildren with whom he spent countless hours.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Dennis Lambert of the home, one son, Chris Lambert of Norwood; two daughters, Joanne Lambert Wilhoit and husband Jack of Lexington, SC and Penny Lambert Morton and husband Jack of Albemarle; one brother, Larry Lambert and wife Judy of Albemarle; one sister, Peggy Lambert Carter and husband Ron of Albemarle; eight grandchildren, Betty Lynn Davis and husband J.D., Jack Wilhoit, Jill Lovitt and husband Cody, Jamie Wilhoit and wife Lauren, Janna Brown and husband Jamin, Derek Lambert and wife Hallie, Taylor Jolly and husband Dustin and Caroline Morton; 10 great-grandchildren, Sean Davis and wife Kelly, Heather Davis, J.C. Lovitt, Garrett Lovitt, Landon Lovitt, Michael Wilhoit, Layla Brown, Maverick Brown, Phoebe Brown and Maddox Jolly.

The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly County, and St. Martin’s Lutheran Church.
