Wilmer Lee 'Nick' Morgan

SALISBURY - Mr. Wilmer Lee "Nick" Morgan, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

He was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Rowan County, to the late M. Lee Morgan and Margie Poole Morgan.

Nick attended Rowan County schools and served in the United States Army during World War II. A life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, he was employed by Oakwood Mobile Homes in the maintenance department, having retired in 1990. After retiring, Nick worked with his son, Garrett, at his trucking business and helped him with his farm. He enjoyed gardening and had a passion for fishing.

In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his son, Garrett Morgan, who passed away Nov. 24, 1992; his daughter, Mrs. Sharon Imogene Lambert, who passed away Oct. 14, 2005; his brother, James Morgan; and his sister, Esther Sides.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Hill Morgan, whom he married Sept. 9, 1944; sister-in-law, Doris Morgan; grandchildren, Melissa Lambert and husband Petey of Rockwell, Brian Morgan and wife Kristen of Sherrills Ford, Jeff Lambert and wife Mandy of Salisbury and Michael Wiacek of Michigan; and great-grandchildren, Kadence Lambert and Garrett Morgan.

Service:There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2014 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Kay Overcash, interim pastor and nephew, Rev. Floyd Sides.

Memorials:Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund; or to Autumn Care, 1505 Bringle Ferry Road.
