Carr Andrew Peeler, Jr.

Carr Andrew Peeler, Jr., 81 of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. Carr was born on December 16, 1930 to the late Carr Andrew Peeler, Sr. and Willie Mae (Bill) West Peeler of Granite Quarry.

Carr attended Granite Quarry High School. He joined the National Guard, and was then drafted with the Army's 346th Light Engineer Equipment Company that sent him to Fort Lewis, Washington and then to Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

Carr was a member of Christiana Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Church Council, sang in the church choir, and served on many other committees. Carr was a member of the Granite Quarry American Legion Post 448 where he served two terms as Commander. He also loved to help in the concession stand at the American Legion baseball games. Carr was a charter member of the Granite Quarry Jaycees.

Carr was the owner of CAP Insurance Agency for over 40 years, and CAP Medical Supplies. He loved to play golf, work with crafts and play with his great grandchildren.

Survivors: Carr is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Frances Beck Peeler. One daughter, Regina "Reggie" Peeler Hardister and husband Bill of Concord. Three grandsons, Ryan Daniel Hardister and wife Kara of Kannapolis, Stephen Carr Hardister and wife Katie of Matthews, and D. Scott Hardister of Concord. Three great grandchildren whom he adored, Nolan and Liam Hardister of Matthews and Luna Hardister of Kannapolis. Four brothers, David Peeler and wife Nancy of High Point, John Peeler and wife Kay of Rockwell, Patrick Peeler of Rockwell and Robert Peeler and wife Judy of Salisbury. One sister, Vivian Vess and husband Paul of Rockwell. Sister-In-Law, Doris Ritchie; and two special great nieces, Laura and Cristin Ritchie who held a special place in his heart.

Service: The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11:00 am at Christiana Lutheran Church with Rev. Carl Haynes, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Graveside Rites.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 5th in the basement of the church after the service.

The family would like to thank Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care Group and Continuous Care Nurses. Especially Chaplain Jordan for his special shared songs and ministry.

Memorials may be made to Christiana Lutheran Church Roof Fund.
