John Lafayette Bost

Mr. John Lafayette Bost, 97, of Rockwell died at NorthEast Medical Center Sunday, April 22, 2007. Mr. Bost was born in Rowan County on March 30, 1910 a son of the late George Jeremiah and Bessie Brown Bost.

Mr Bost was a 1929 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He was a supply clerk for Cannon Mills in Kannapolis retiring after 30 years. He was the oldest and a lifelong member of Grace Lower Stone Church, where he was a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, was Elder Emeritus, had served on the church council, a member of the George Poole Brotherhood and had held other various positions within the church. Mr. Bost attended the Mt. Pleasant Lunch Plus Group and received various awards for volunteering in Cabarrus County where he was awarded the Arrow of Light for Volunteer Work.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Addie Frick Bost who died August 31, 1991, and two brothers; Lonnie Bost who died in 1956 and Cletus Bost who died in 2005.

Survivors include three daughters; Betsy B. Shore of Rockwell, Carol B. Green of Concord, and Gayle B. Clay & husband Craven of Rockwell: Sister-In-Law; Ruth S. Bost of Concord. Five Grandchildren; Five Great Grandchildren and Three Great Great Grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will be Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday and the remainder of the time at the home of a daughter, Betsy B. Shore of Rockwell

Services: Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Grace Lower Stone Church by Rev. Kevin Gilliam, Pastor & Rev. Jay Whitley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The George Poole Brotherhood will serve as honorary pallbearers and be seated as a group during the service.
