Hubert Calvin Agner
Hubert Calvin Agner, 96, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 at his home in Salisbury, NC.
He was born June 2, 1926 in Rowan County to the late David Calvin "Cal" and Elma Trexler Agner. Hubert was a 1943 graduate of Rockwell High School, he worked as a machinist for Taylor Manufacturing retiring in 1990.
Hubert was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, a member of John's Sunday School class, he was a past council member, and played on the church softball team.
Hubert enjoyed cutting wood, mowing and gardening. When he was younger he played fast pitch softball and baseball, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille Wagner, Joann Cooper and Jane Waller; and brother, James Agner.
Hubert is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Mary Eller Agner, whom he married August 31, 1963; son, Brian Keith Agner of Salisbury; brother, Ben Agner and wife Frances of Salisbury; sister, Shirley Raymond of Salisbury; and brother-in-law, Bill Waller.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Family Life Center, Salisbury, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC, with Rev. Dr. Jarrod Lanning, officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC.
