Jan Seawell

Janette “Jan”Melinda Seawell, passed away peacefully at Kiser Hospice House on Oct. 31, 2015, after an extended battle with cancer.

The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Seawell Jr. (Nevada Wyatt Seawell), she was born on March 11, 1950, in Salisbury. A lifelong Lutheran, Jan's early church life began at St. John's Lutheran in Salisbury. She graduated from Briarcliff High School in Atlanta and attended Middle Georgia Junior College. She was retired. Locally, she was formerly employed by Trinity Oaks Health and Rehab and the Salisbury City Code Enforcement Office.

She is survived by her only brother, Joseph Ronald Seawell and wife Janice of Richmond, Va.; sister Carolyn Fonseca and husband Tony of Pittsburgh, Pa. She is also survived by her nieces: Lane Hopkins (Brian) and family, Casey Freeman (Ned) and family, both of Richmond, Va., Audrey Walascek (Dale) and family of Kasilof, Alaska; as well as her nephew, Carlton Fonseca of Boca Raton, Fla. Numerous cousins, great- nieces and great-nephews are left to cherish her memory; and cousin Brenda Zimmerman of Salisbury. Her daily feline companion Simba will miss her as well.

The family extends their appreciation to Dr. Mark Wimmer and Dr. Michelle Valiquette at Carolina Oncology Associates of Salisbury, the loving caregivers of Trinity at Home, Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care and Glenn Kiser Hospice House.

Service: Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Brenda Bynum at Chestnut Hill Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 11:30 a.m.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity at Home, Klumac Road, Salisbury; Glenn Kiser Hospice House; or Cystic Fibrosis.
