STANLEY - Phillip Hugh Eller, 75, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital.
A native of Rowan County, he was the son of the late Lester and Lois Brattain Eller. Phillip proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Duke Power at Riverbend Steam Station with 27 years experience.
He was an avid sports fan and the fixer of all things. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jeanette Starnes Eller of the home; daughters Lisa Woerner Brooks and husband Travis of Mt. Holly, Jeaneane Peek of Charlotte, Dr. Karen Eller and husband Joe Floyd of Beaufort, S.C.; brother Wayne Eller and wife Delores of Concord; sisters Hilda Hess of Granite Quarry, Sue Love of Archdale, Rebecca Eller of Isle of Palms, S.C.; grandchildren Chelsea Woerner, April Woerner, Walker Eller Floyd, Kirsten Eller Floyd; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jeffery Peek.
Service and Visitation: A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church, Belmont. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial with Military Rites will be at Hillcrest Gardens, Mount Holly.
