Mary Russell Cater
Born August 21, 1926 in Richfield NC, she was the daughter of the late David Eli Wyatt and Ester Frick Wyatt.
Mary loved flower gardening. She had beautiful flower gardens on her property and even had a green house. She also had a great interest and love for birds and loved to watch them while sitting on her back porch. She was the church secretary at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Hickory, NC for 35 years. She was a very proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary often spent time in front of the TV watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball. Mary was very kind and thoughtful and always made it a point to ask about others before sharing updates on herself.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Ann Baggett of Newton, Tom Russell and wife Robin, Rob Russell and wife Jennifer of Conover NC; stepsons Steve Cater and wife Angel of Anderson SC, David Cater of Anderson SC; grandchildren Halie Raven and husband Jon, Sara Baggett, Erin Baggett, Laney Russell; great grandchild Jax Raven.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Garland Thomas Russell and second husband Kenneth Estus Cater; stepson Mike Cater; brothers Roy Wyatt, Paul Wyatt and wife Eunice; sisters Lula Goodman and husband Roy.
A Memorial Service will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Hickory, NC, on Tuesday June 20 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northminster Presbyterian for the Dupille Fund which is used for community outreach.
