Virginia "Jennie" Hoffner Kirk

Virginia "Jennie" Hoffner Kirk, 91, of Richfield, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021.

She was born April 6, 1929, in Rowan County to the late David Lynn and Clementine Reid Hoffner. Mrs. Kirk attended Morgan Elementary School and was a 1947 Graduate of Rockwell High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in and helped direct the church choir, volunteered with Vacation Bible School, and served as Church Secretary. Mrs. Kirk worked at Walker Mobile Homes in Rockwell and Fisher Homes in Richfield where she was a plumber, Morgan Insurance Agency in Granite Quarry where she served as secretary, and also helped her husband in logging. She enjoyed quilting and loved to go fishing, especially at the beach.

In addition to her parents and 16 siblings, Mrs. Kirk was preceded in death by her husband, Clone Allen "Cooter" Kirk; grandson, Jason Matthews; and son-in-law, Jerry Matthews.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Matthews of Richfield; son, Don Kirk of Richfield; grandchildren, Tanya Gearhart of Lewisville, Daryl Matthews of Richfield, Mark Kirk of Concord, and Tammy Kirk of Mt. Pleasant; and great-grandchildren, Austin and Blake Matthews and Miles and Gavin Gearhart.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, March 19, from 10:00 am until 10:45 am in the Family Life Center at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am on Friday in the Family Life Center at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bill Ketchie officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church-Sanctuary Renovation Fund.
