LINWOOD | George Wayne Gobble, 73, of Wayne Gobble Road, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Psalm 91 Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Max Shoaf. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Gobble was born in Davie County on June 3, 1931, to George William Gobble and Ila Mae Miller Gobble. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Linwood High School. Upon graduation he attended Hemphill Schools in New York, in a course in operation, maintenance and repair of diesel engines. He was self-employed owner of Bet Way Signs and Sunny Hill Estates.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Morgan Gobble of the home; sons, Gary Wayne Gobble and his wife, Ann, of Lexington, and Larry Lynn Gobble and his wife, Kathy, of Williamson, Ga.; daughter, Teresa Ashby and husband, David, of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Jason Ashby and wife, Jennifer, Julie Beane and husband, Jason, Jeremy Gobble, Heidi Gobble, Nick Gobble, Elias Gobble, Lael Gobble and Larra Gobble; great-grandson, Travis Ashby; and sister, Helen Rogers and husband, Jimmy, of Lexington.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home of the daughter.
