Wednesday, June 15, 2011 — Ruby M. Almond, 86, of 33736 Ridge St., Albemarle, died at 5:33 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, in her home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Stanly Funeral Home.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Caines and Rev. Otis Goins will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Born Nov. 9, 1924, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Fannie Troutman Morgan and was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Co. She attended Mt. View Baptist Church and was a former cosmetologist and former real estate broker. She loved quilting, needlepoint, gardening and being outside. She also enjoyed riding her John Deere lawnmower and her Ford tractor. She will be missed by her Jack Russell Terrier, Jack, and by those who enjoyed her cooking and the dinner parties she hosted.
She was married to the late Grady J. Almond, who preceded her in death in 1988. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Morgan, Leo Morgan and Jerry Morgan, and by a sister, Lorene Cook.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Fincher and husband, Donald, of Albemarle; a brother, Ralph Morgan of Salisbury; six sisters, Myrtle Fleeman of Gold Hill, Evelyn Cranford of Salisbury, Ruth Turner and Pearlie Carver of Albemarle, Mary Eudy of Charlotte and Betty Morton of Rockwell; a grandchild, Todd Fincher; and two great-grandchildren, Dustin Fincher and Matthew Fincher.
