ROCKWELL - Mrs. Janie Elizabeth Fraley Peeler, 82, of Rockwell, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, Salisbury.

Janie was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Faith, the daughter of the late Samuel P. Fraley and Ada Peeler Fraley.

Janie was a 1949 graduate of Granite Quarry High School, a member of Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith, the Co-Ed Sunday School Class, Sonshine Sunday School Class, Morning Guild, Tape Ministry, Rockwell Senior Citizens Club and Meals on Wheels for years.

She had been a teachers assistant for 35 years, mostly at Rockwell School. She retired from the Rowan County School System in 1994.

In addition to her parents, Janie was also preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.

Survivors include husband Walter Ray Peeler, who she married June 3, 1950; son Michael Ray Peeler and wife Elizabeth Pigott Peeler of Charlotte; daughters Cheryl Ann Peeler Chesser and husband Windell Chesser of Cataula, Ga., and Lisa Jane Peeler and husband John Holland of Normal, Ill.; grandchildren Christopher Bryan Whitaker of Midland, Ga., Christopher Holland and Melody Holland of Normal, Ill.; granddaughter-in-law Lisa Whitaker; step-granddaughter Evelyn Schlick; great-grandchildren Tanner Whitaker and Davis Whitaker. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation: 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith.

Funeral Services: 3 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith, conducted by Rev. Richard Myers, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family wants to thank the staff of Genesis Rehab for her care. Also many thanks to the staff at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House for their loving care of Janie during the last week of her life.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith, or Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
