Irene Molnar Trexler

SALISBURY - Irene Molnar Trexler, 83, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Chickos Molnar and Paul Charles Molnar.

A graduate of Gary High School in West Virginia, she worked as a dispatcher at the Dade County Public Safety Department in Miami, Fla. She later worked at W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center, from where she retired.

After retirement, she worked for Beatties and The Downtowner Restaurants. She loved people and enjoyed gambling, bingo, and going to Las Vegas. A good-hearted and giving person, she was the type that would tell you exactly what was on her mind. Irene was a member of Haven Lutheran Church.

Preceding her in death was her husband, John Burns (J.B.) Trexler, Jr., who died April 3, 1988.

Survivors include her son, Jack Goodman (Nancy) of Salisbury; granddaughters, Amanda Lippard of Durham, Raney Roberson (Randy), Brooke Rainey (Kevin), all of Salisbury; step-daughters, Carolyn Morgan of Salisbury and Barbara Myers (Dwane) of Cleveland; sister, Mary M. Hall of Salisbury; niece, Carolyn Thacker of Spencer; nephew, Bill C. Hall (Tracie) of Cornelius; great-niece, Jacqueline Earnhart; and great-nephew, Kevin Hall, with whom she had a special relationship. Many other great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Service: 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 in the James C. Lyerly Chapel, with the Rev. Ed Harper officiating. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in the Old Historic National Cemetery, 202 Government Road, Salisbury.

Memorials: Rowan Relay For Life.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Irene's neighbor and close friend, Bernece Wilhelm, Dr. Douglas Shellhorn, Dr. Neil Patel, Dr. Stephen Furr and their staff for the special care and attention given to Irene.
