Velma Harwood Kluttz

SALISBURY - Velma Harwood Kluttz, 89, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born Sept. 20, 1921 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. Harwood and Evie Sides Harwood.

Velma was educated in the Rowan County Schools and retired from Carolina Maid with over 28 years of service. She was a member of Christiana Lutheran Church, and the Jeannie Thomas Bible Class. Velma loved quilting, crafts, sewing, working in her yard, and tending to her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Kluttz in 1989, a son, Bobby Lee Kluttz, who died in 1999, and a granddaughter, Dana Kluttz in 2007.

Survivors include sons, H. L. Kluttz, Jr., Kenneth Kluttz and wife, Joyce of Salisbury; daughter, Sue Choat and husband, Ray of Rockwell; grandchildren, Darren Kluttz and wife, Shaney of Rockwell, Brian Kluttz and wife, April and Jamie Kluttz Honeycutt and husband, Brandon of Salisbury; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell.

Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Christiana Lutheran Church, Salisbury, conducted by Rev. Carl Haynes, pastor.

Burial: Will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.

Memorials: May be made to Christiana Lutheran Church.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Kluttz family.
