Sara Drye Barringer

Mrs. Sara Drye Barringer 85 of Salisbury passed away December 1, 2010 at the Genesis Eldercare in Salisbury.

Mrs. Barringer was born February 24, 1925 in Stanly County daughter of the late Marshall Albert Drye and Gertie Lee Miller Drye. She was a 1943 graduate of Richfield High School.

Mrs. Barringer and her husband were owners of Piedmont Radiator Works, she was a member of Old Country Baptist Church, where she was former music director and secretary-treasure of the church as long as her health permitted. She also was a volunteer for Hospice, and enjoyed singing at church and sewing. 

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lonzo Barringer, and a daughter, Dora Barringer London. 

Survivors are three sons, Bernie "Buddy" Barringer and wife Mary Jane of Rockwell, Melvin Leanas Barringer and wife Nancy of Gold Hill and Terry Lonzo Barringer of Salisbury. One daughter, Joyce Barringer Lindsay of Salisbury, and two brothers, Benny Drye of Richfield, and Clyde Drye of Albemarle, and one sister Betty Lee Drye of Albemarle.

Grandchildren are Steven London, Ronald Hamrick Jr. Dallas C. A. Barringer, William Leanas Barringer Albert Ray Barringer, Joshua A. Barringer, Haley "Nicky" Nicole Barringer, Robert A. Barringer, and Sara A. Barringer, Joshua Ferguson, Brittany Hulon, and Brice A.W. Jacobs, IV. There are also 11 great-grandchildren. 

The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Tom Lomax, Pastor of Old Country Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Powles Funeral Home from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Thursday.
