Notes for Doris Rosalie “Rosie” Coltrane
Rosie Coltrane Shaver

Mrs. Doris Rosalie Coltrane Shaver, age 88, passed away on April 22, 2017 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Center in Asheboro, NC. She was the daughter of the late William Edgar Coltrane and Emma Elizabeth Brown Coltrane, born on December 17, 1928 in High Point, NC.

Rosie is remembered as being an incredible mother, grandmother, and friend. Rosie held her family dear to her. During the illness of her husband, she was his full time caregiver for many years. She laughed with her whole body and loved with her whole heart. To know Rosie was to love her. She was an avid baker and loved cooking. Her family and friends were consistently blessed with goodies from her kitchen. Rosie loved having company and talking on the phone, always ready to listen. Her house was filled with warmth and welcome, and she never knew a stranger. She also loved fashion and it would be rare to catch her without her lipstick or gold earrings. Rosie's fellowship at Westchester Baptist church was very important to her. She cherished her friends and the many lifelong relationships that were created there.

Her family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers of Clapps Convalescent Nursing Center and Staywell Senior Care in Asheboro. The family appreciates the love and care shown to Rosie. She so enjoyed the visits, food and reminiscing about her younger days. We also wish to express thanks to her personal caregiver Peggy Gammons and her husband Rick for their love, kindness and friendship given to Rosie.

She is preceded in death by her husband Horace Benjamin Shaver, Sr. and her son, William Dean Shaver. In addition, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Pauline Stanley, Nellie Spencer and W. E. (Dub) Coltrane.  Surviving are her sons Benny Shaver and wife Cindy of Archdale and David Shaver and wife Kaye of Sophia; seven grandchildren, Jamie Shaver and wife, Devon, of High Point, Matthew Shaver and wife, Carla, of Bellingham, WA, Dalton Shaver and wife Anna, of Thomasville, Andrew Shaver and wife Jess, of Nairobi, Kenya, Rebekah Gower of Thomasville, Elisabeth Shaver of Charlotte and Anna Shaver of Denver, Co; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 27, from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. A private family interment will be conducted at Floral Garden Park Cemetery the following day.  A memorial service to celebrate Rosie's life will be held Sunday, May 21, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Westchester Baptist Church, High Point.
