SALISBURY - Bobby Lee "Prune" Holshouser, 67, of Salisbury, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 30, 1943, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Vivian Mesimer Holshouser and Harry Lee Holshouser. Mr. Holshouser attended Rowan County schools.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. A self-employed painter and jack of all trades, he was a loving husband and brother.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle Church.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Roger and Frederick Holshouser.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Ruth Sain Holshouser, whom he married March 6, 1981; stepdaughter Susan Mitchell (Tony) of Statesville; brother Jimmy Holshouser; sisters Brenda Dwiggins, Linda Beck and Barbara Julian, all of Salisbury, Sylvia Shipman of Seneca, S.C.; step-grandchildren Melissa, Crystal and Lindsay; numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Visitation: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24 at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Service: The service will begin at 1 p.m. in the James C. Lyerly Chapel. The Rev. Melvin Austin and the Rev. Carroll Robinson will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Cameron McGill.

Memorials: American Lung Association.

The family extends a special thank you to Rowan Regional Medical Center and staff for the loving care extended to Mr. Holshouser.
