Clara Cole Shaver, 89, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2012 surrounded by her family.
Clara was born in Charlotte on October 10, 1922 to Daniel and Clara Caudle. She was the class Valedictorian of Berryhill High School where she graduated in 1940.
Clara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A lifelong member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, she was actively involved in many things such as Circle and the preparation of monthly lunches for seniors, and served as a Sunday School teacher.
Clara loved children and worked for many years at Park Lanes Bowling, caring for children in the nursery while the mothers bowled. She also enjoyed painting, sewing, needlepoint and quilting, but most of all, she loved her family.
Clara is preceded in death by her loving husband, Isaac Shaver. She is survived by three sons, Daniel (Mary Alice); Billy (Louise) and John (Karen); seven grandchildren, Billy, Angelica, Maria, Whitney, Erica, Joshua and Daniel and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6th from 6 to 8 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte. Funeral will be Tuesday, February 7 at 11 am at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte followed by burial at the church cemetery.
The family deeply appreciates the loving care given to Clara at Mecklenburg Healthcare.
