FAITH - Joseph Irving Riley, 90, of Faith, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Genesis Healthcare of Salisbury.
Mr. Riley was born Nov. 24, 1920, in Rowan County, son of the late Joseph Irving Riley and Della Wood Riley. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, Mr. Riley was a mechanic at Raney Motor Company in Salisbury and retired from Carolina Tractor and Equipment Company in Salisbury and Charlotte.
Mr. Riley was a life-member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons, taught Sunday School and belonged to the Brotherhood.
Mr. Riley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II in the European-African-Middle Eastern area and the Asiatic Pacific area.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Riley was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Crossett Riley; daughter Tina Sue Riley; brother M.P. Riley; and sisters Beatrice Mason, Myrtis Mesimer, Grace Smith and Hester Oswalt.
He is survived by his daughters, Diane Ayash, Mickey Deutsch; brother-in-law Bill Crossett; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Service: The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 at Faith Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Joe Smith, pastor. Burial will follow at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 in the church vestibule of Faith Baptist Church.
Memorials: May be made to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 84, Faith, NC 28041.
