Martha Holshouser Cozart

SALISBURY - Mrs. Martha Holshouser Cozart, 76, of Salisbury, passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Martha was born May 13, 1934, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late E.L. Holshouser, Sr. and Eddie Belle Peeler Holshouser.

A 1952 graduate of Rockwell High School, Martha was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Women of the ELCA, Seasoned Saints and the Seminary Auxiliary and was a former Sunday School teacher.

She was charter member of the Rockwell American Legion Auxiliary Unit 112 and helped with the Meals on Wheels program. Martha was the owner and operator of Crescent Beauty Shop in Salisbury.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Edgar Cozart, on May 26, 1982; brother E.L. Holshouser, Jr.; and a sister, Agnes Brown.

Survivors include sons Vic Cozart and wife Kim, Kent Cozart and wife Amy of Salisbury; daughters Starla C. Lyerly of Richfield, Stacie Myers and husband Dale of Granite Falls; grandchildren Scott Cozart and wife Kelly, Garett Cozart, Christie Davis and husband Paul, Craige Lyerly, Courtney Lyerly, Liberty Cozart, Abrielle Cozart; and great-grandchildren Caleb Jarvis, Alyssa Cozart and Caroline Cozart.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wed-nesday, Oct. 20 at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

Funeral Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at St. James Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Craig Sigmon, pastor. Burial following in church cemetery.

Memorials: St. James Lutheran Church.
