MOUNT GILEAD - Zeb Mitchell Hill, 69, of 368 Gaddy Farm Road, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. Mr. Hill passed away at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Oct. 17, 1937, in Rowan County, Mr. Hill was a son of the late Zebbie and Mary Hall Hill. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served 20 years and retiring in 1976.

A retired electrician with Metal Forge, Mr. Hill was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and attended Norwood Church of the Nazarene. 

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed traveling and woodworking.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Lydia Blalock Hill of the home; sons Zeb Mitchell Hill Jr. and wife Debra of Harrisburg, Paul Hill and wife Cyndi of Salisbury, Richard Hill and wife Candy of Richfield; sons by marriage Carroll Freeman and wife Darlene of Rockwell, Mark Hamilton and wife Reiko of Fort George Meade, Md., Gene Harrington and wife Cassie of Beaufort, S.C.; daughters by marriage Tiffany Adcock and husband Derrick of Richfield and Ginger Huggins and husband Hugh of Mount Gilead; brothers C.L. Hill of New London and Tony Hill and wife Brenda of Albemarle; sisters Evelyne Stamper and husband Elmer of Albemarle, Judy Aldridge and husband Phillip of Harrisburg and Debbie Lowder and husband J.W. of New London; grandchildren Andrew Hill, Allison Fambro, McKayne Hill, CaLeb Hill, Wendell Belk, Morgan Hill, Sean Hamilton, Robbie Hamilton, Michaela Adcock, Jessica Adcock, Riley Harrington, Savannah Huggins and Brooklyn Huggins; and great-grandchildren Jakob Hill and Hazel Fambro.

He was preceded in death by brothers Gerald and Kim Hill and sister Frances Leopard.

Service: Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today at Norwood Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Kenneth Myers will officiate. The body will lie in-state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at Porter Baptist Church cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Navy.
