George Kent Gartman died of complications from diabetes Saturday, May 23, 1998, while vacationing in Maui, Hawaii. He was 53.
He was born May 22, 1945, in Vancouver.
Mr. Gartman was an architectural sheet metal worker for more than 30 years. He retired four years ago.
He was a member of the Mazamas and the Northwest Steelheaders Association.
He loved reading, doing yardwork, cross-country skiing, hiking, camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, at home; his parents, Clarence "Bud" and Phyllis Gartman of Vancouver; two daughters, Heather Gorman of Seattle and Holly Kinerk of Vancouver; one brother, John Gartman of California; and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be announced.
