Denzil Everett Lewis

Denzil Everett Lewis, 82, Granby, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Freeman Neosho ER, following a short illness.

He was born March 1, 1929, in Boulder City, to George Landon and Ora (Hobson) Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was a lifelong resident of the Granby area and worked as a pay loader operator at W. R. Grace, in Duenweg, for 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Denzil and Wynona May (Brust) were married Aug. 27, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo.; she survives.

Additional survivors include three children and their spouses, Dennis W. and Mary Lewis, Miami, Okla., Dena and Jim Nance, Granby, and Danny and Dennese Lewis, Granby; grandchildren, Krista Cherry, Lindsey Laughlin, Meghan Lewis, Danielle Lewis; greatgrandchildren, Austin and Aaron Cherry; two brothers, Joe Lewis, Webb City, and John Lewis, Stella; five sisters, Pauline McMahan, Wagoner, Okla., Maxine Richards, Stark City, Georgia Wisely, Center Ridge, Ark., Marlene Sanders, Granby and Darlene Laughlin, Stella.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Landon Lewis and Dallas Lewis; and two sisters, Josephine Hartley and Marjorie Willman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, at Clark Funeral Home, Granby, with Billy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Hazel Green Cemetery, Boulder City, and serving as pallbearers will be Brian Martin, Bobby Martin, Jackie Brust, Joel Brust, Nub Lewis and Robert Sanders.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
