Pauline Mae McMahan

Pauline Mae McMahan passed away on May 12, 2014, at the age of 98.

Pauline, or as her family affectionately referred to her, Grandma Mc, was born to George Lewis and Ora (Hobson) Lewis on Nov. 10, 1915, in Boulder City, She was the oldest of 13 children. She grew up on a farm, during tough economic times, and knew the value of hard work and sacrifice.
Pauline married Charles Elmer McMahan Nov. 18, 1933.

After marriage, she lived and worked in Tulsa. She left the house each day in a dress and high heels for her job as a very classy elevator operator in the Mayo, and Petroleum buildings.

Her family remembers her for her frugal life style, afraid to spend money, and never throwing anything away. She loved to cook the family favorites, brown beans every Saturday, and her special pot roast dinners on Sunday. She is most remembered for her sincere devotion to family and friends. She loved gardening, going to the lake for fishing and camping, family reunions, and travel, especially to the beach, where she picked up shells.

Pauline is survived by two brothers, John Lewis and wife Neoma, Stella, and Joe Lewis, Webb City; four sisters, Bonnie Sanders, Granby, Darlene and husband, Dale Laughlin, Stella, Georgia and husband, Lenard Wisley, Cleveland, Ark.; one daughter, Carol Jane and husband, Charles Lea, Wagoner, Okla.; one son-in-law, Royce Lingo, Wagoner; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Lewis, and Ora Hobson Lewis of the state of Missouri; three brothers, Landon Lewis, Densil Lewis, and Dallas Lewis, of the state of Missouri; three sisters, baby Ella Louise Lewis, Sarah Josephine Hartley, Tulsa, Okla., and Margery Willman of the state of Missouri; husband, Charles Elmer McMahan; son, Coy McMahan; daughter-in-law, Carolyn McMahan; daughter, Della Ann Lingo; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday in the Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Phillips officiating.

Pauline will be laid to rest at the Hazel Green Cemetery in Boulder City, at 3 p.m., Saturday, with the Rev. Jerry Francisco officiating.

Services are under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home, Wagoner.
