MOUNT PLEASANT - Marjorie Magalene Crayton Harkey, 77, of 8320 County Line Road, Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at CMC-NorthEast. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Ronny Russell officiating. Burial will be at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens, Concord.
Mrs. Harkey was born May 28, 1932, in Cabarrus County the daughter of the late Richard A. Crayton and the late Flora Ann (Harvell) Crayton. She retired from Shannon Hosiery Mills as a Pre Boarder and was of the Baptist faith.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Jay Harkey.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Beard and husband, Tim, of Claremont; sons, Alan W. Hartsell of Stanfield and Gary R. Hartsell of Georgia; brothers, Johnny Eden Crayton and Richard A. Crayton both of Concord and Charles Matthew Crayton of Gold Hill; sister, Virginia Dare Linker of Mount Pleasant and Alene Lambert of Ridgecrest; half-sister, Louise Burris of Concord; and grandchildren, Tim W. Beard and Michael L. Hartsell; and one great-grandchild.
