Sadie Troutman Walton

SALISBURY - Mrs. Sadie Troutman Walton, 77, of Salisbury passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Walton was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late William H. Troutman and Annie Reeves Troutman.

Educated at Richfield High School, Mrs. Walton was manager of Carousel Cafe for many years, and also worked for Simpsons Meat Market.

She was a member of Union Lutheran Church, Good Timers Senior Citizens Group. She loved her family, her grandchildren and all of their friends. Mrs. Walton also loved cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death on July 15, 2010, by her husband Mr. Hugh Bittle Walton, whom she married June 17, 1951. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Leroy Troutman and two sisters, Bernice Troutman and Frances Troutman.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Elaine W. Huffman and husband Gary of Salisbury; one grandson, M. Blake Huffman of Washington, D.C.; and a granddaughter, Jordan B. Huffman of Charlotte.

Funeral: 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the Union Lutheran Church with burial at the Flat Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Powles Funeral Home Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and at the home of her daughter, Elaine W. Huffman, the remainder of the time.

Memorials: May be made to Union Lutheran Church, or to St. Matthews Lutheran Church Family Life Center.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Ronnie Barrier, and the staff of Autumn Care and the Rowan Regional Medical Center for all their care and loving concern.
