Frances Lee McElrath Morgan

Frances Lee McElrath Morgan, 84, of Richfield, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at her residence.

She was born December 14, 1937, in Davie County to the late Lloyd Donald McElrath and Irene Lambe McElrath. Mrs. Morgan completed school through the seventh grade, then left to take care of her family. She worked early on for Hanes Hosiery before owning and operating Morgan's Service and Grocery with her husband for over 20 years. She later worked various jobs until retirement, including at Quality Cleaners in Granite Quarry for several years. Mrs. Morgan was a devoted religious lady who believed in the words of the Bible and that Jehovah was the true God. She was the glue that held her family together and enjoyed taking care of her house and family. True to her devotion to her family, she enjoyed spending time at the beach with her daughter and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed working outdoors in her yard, garden, and flower garden. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed canning vegetables and was known for her pickles and beets. Mrs. Morgan was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed ceramics.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Kenneth Morgan; daughter, Teresa Morgan Frank; and brothers, Lloyd Donald McElrath, Jr., Tommy McElrath, and Robbie McElrath.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by her sons, Rickey Morgan of Salisbury and Mickey Morgan of Richfield; son-in-law, Steve Ludwick of Salisbury; grandchildren, Travis Morgan (Krista) of Whitsett and Paul Briceson Frank of Salisbury, Dustin Graham, and Holly Burg; great-grandchildren, Raegan Leigh Morgan and Lola Anita Frank; sister, Betty Jean Whitaker of Harmony; cousin/sister-in-law, Della Morgan of Granite Quarry; sister-in-law, Margaret Morgan of Salisbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM on Friday, March 18, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Herring officiating.

Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.
