SALISBURY - Luther Lee "Lou" Trexler Jr., passed away on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the age of 82.

Born June 23, 1928, in Salisbury, he attended schools in Rowan County and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college, he enlisted in the Armed Forces and served as a linguist in the Korean War. After his service in the Army, Lou, moved to Fresno, Calif. and worked as a Deputy Sheriff for 24 years.

In 1979, Lou took early retirement and relocated to Salisbury. He worked at Impact Technologies in Charlotte and was the second employee hired. His title was Quality Assurance and Technical Support, where his major in math came in handy. He worked on and off for 29 years with the company.

When Lou lived in Fresno he was a regular patron of the Café Midi, which originated in the Tower District in the '60s and '70s. Lou had long conversations about politics and philosophy and enjoyed challenging others to a game of chess.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Addie File and Luther Lee Trexler, Sr.; and brother Floyd Trexler.

He is survived by three children, daughter Kathleen Snyder of Santa Maria, Calif., son Richard Trexler of Fresno, Calif., and daughter Jessica Halstead of Salisbury; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Sides of Salisbury; and many nieces and nephews.
