LaVearn Everett

LaVearn (Cook) Everett, 86, of Staunton, passed away early Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Augusta Health surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 19, 1925 in Salisbury, NC, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Myrtle (Stoner) Cook. Mrs. Everett was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, Staunton, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, playing in the bell choir, teaching Sunday school and leading a women's circle group. She was a member of the Staunton Choral Society, Staunton Music Club and a volunteer with the cancer center. LaVearn was an active and devoted ministers wife for 35 years and deeply loved her church. In her spare time, she loved music, sewing and spending time with family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. C. Roy Everett, Jr.; son, Leslie H. Everett; brothers, Curtis and Robert Cook.

Survivors include her son, Stephen Everett and wife Bonnie of Montpelier, VT; daughter, Betsy E. DeWeese and husband Mark of Fairfax, VA; daughter-in-law, Willie Everett of Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Todd Everett and Niki Leiva; great-grandchild, Tyler Everett.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Stephanie Sault officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. at the church prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Hollywood Cemetery in Newsoms, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Everett's memory to Central United Methodist Church, Staunton, Virginia.
