Margaret Fraley Cook

SALISBURY - Margaret Pence Fraley Cook, age 79, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

She was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Rowan County to the late Annie Elizabeth Steele and R.H. "Rich" Pence. Margaret attended Woodleaf and Cleveland schools.

Mrs. Cook was a cosmetologist, a secretary for John's Auto Repair, a bookkeeper for Home Oil and Coal before retiring and after retirement, she owned The Diet Center of Statesville. She was a member of South River United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church of Salisbury.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Horace Fraley April 30, 1996; brothers Earl Pence, Robert Pence and Gene Pence; and sister Mary Gentle.

Mrs. Cook is survived by husband Robert Cook Sr.; son Dickie Ronald Fraley and wife Susan of Cleveland; stepson Robert Cook Jr. of Salisbury; stepdaughter Barbara Cook Cubbaage of Hampton, Va.; brother Milton Pence and wife Ruby of Kannapolis; granddaughter Kimberly Fraley Redmon and husband Brian of Rockwell; stepgrandchildren Amanda Lyerly of Sanford and Gregory Adam Lyerly of Statesville; and great-grandchild Cooper Lee Medlin.

Service: Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 at Summersett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve Haines of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Summersett Funeral Home.

Memorials: May be made to South River United Methodist Church, Woodleaf, NC.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
