Fred Alexander Barbee, 79, of 24455 Helms Road, Albemarle, passed away April 15, 2010, at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.
There was an informal visitation at his home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 17. There will also be a visitation at the church fellowship hall after the burial on Sunday, April 18.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at Canton Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Mabry officiating. Burial will follow at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was born in Stanly County on June 19, 1930, the son of the late Silas and Bertie Morris Barbee.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Lambert Barbee of Albemarle; daughter, Jan Taylor and husband Tommy of Wadesboro; son, Doug Barbee and wife Susan of Albemarle; grandchildren, Patrick Taylor and wife Sandy of Durham, Brad Taylor and wife Lisa of Wadesboro, Heather Barbee, Jon Barbee and wife Tiffany, and Heidi Barbee Jacobi and husband Nick, all of Albemarle; five great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Barbee and sisters, Kathleen Bowers and Helen Burleson, all of Albemarle.
The family requests that memorials be made to: Canton Baptist Church Building Fund.
