Catherine Barringer Kimball

Catherine Barringer Kimball, 98, of Salisbury passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at her residence. She was born December 11, 1919 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Calvin Brown Barringer and the late Myrtle Catherine Fisher Barringer.

Catherine was a graduate of Boyden High School and a proud employee of Duke Power Co. for 31 years. She also loved being involved with the planning and getting together with her family and friends. She was the oldest active member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church and treasured the Sunday School class and friends at Wittenberg.

Preceding her in death was her parents, husband John Kimball, grandson Todd Thomas Kimball and four siblings.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Kimball(Carlene); daughter, Libby Kimball Holman (Lee); grandchildren, Michelle Kimball Powers (Jamie), Katie Holman Hughes (Philip) and Mary Holman Merlin (Danny), great-grandchildren, Avery Elizabeth Garmon, Blakely Yates Powers, Catherine Thomas Powers, George Oliver Hughes, John William Merlin, sister, Marie Barringer Cuthrell and brother in law Jim Clary.

The family will be celebrating her life Saturday, December 30, 2017 beginning with the visitation from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM at Wittenberg Lutheran Church, 114 W. Bank Street, Granite Quarry, NC. The service will follow in the sanctuary at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Kyles Bates and the Rev. Dr. Steve Holshouser officiating. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Wittenberg Lutheran Church, or Gideons International.

The family is grateful for her compassionate caregivers, Helen Eddleman and Cathy Joyner who enabled her to enjoy her final years at home.
