Odessa Treece

Odessa Murray Treece, 87, of 20130 Newsome Road, Oakboro, passed away March 8, 2010, at Britthaven of the Piedmont in Albemarle. Visitation was from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle, with funeral service following at 2 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Frank Sanders and Rev. Wayne Bennett officiated and burial followed at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Stanly County on June 28, 1922, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Hager Treece; her mother, Minnie Angeline Lambert Murray and her father, Aussie Gold Murray.

She worked as an egg grader for All Star Egg Plant. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Oakboro where she was a life long member. She loved gardening and also the monthly dinners with treasured friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Canupp of Albemarle; sons, Brian Treece of Frog Pond and Keith Treece and wife, Bonnie, of Locust; grandchildren, David Canupp, Brandon Treece, Jeff, Mike, Matt, and Dustin Boone; four great-grandchildren; brother, Dewell Murray of Frog Pond; and a sister, Bessie Mae Huneycutt of Glouster. She was preceded in death by seven brothers.

The family will meet at the home of Keith Treece, 20327 Jacob Road, Locust.
