Rachel Hill Culp

Mrs. Rachel Hill Culp, 74, of Gold Hill, NC passed away on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. Rachel was born August 6, 1935 in Cabarrus County the daughter of the late Elbert C. Hill and Jewel Treece Hill.

Rachel was a 1953 graduate of Richfield High School, a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. Rachel was a homemaker, an avid quilter, loved to do needlework, cooking, gardening and spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, F. Leonard Culp of Culp Brothers, Incorporated who passed away on April 27, 1980 and a sister Bessie Mae Hill.

Survivors: sons, Ben Fisher Culp and wife, Dianne, Jay Tillman Culp and wife, Betsy, daughter, Janet Culp Wagoner and husband, Robin all of Gold Hill, sister, Ruth Hill Hammill and husband Jerry, brother, Oliver C. Hill and wife, Betty Jane all of Gold Hill, grandchildren, Erica Gibson, Carmen Sargent, Paul Culp, Natalie Whitley, Melissa Culp and Adam Culp, great grandchildren, Lauren Gibson and Josie Gibson.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell and the remainder of the time at the home of Jay Culp.

Funeral Services: 2:00 PM Thursday, Bethlehem United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Anthony Moore, Pastor and Rev. Glenn L. Myers, Jr., Pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church, Concord. Mrs. Culp will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the Funeral Service.

Burial: Will be in the church cemetery following the Funeral Service.
