Frances Hatley Rogers Lowder

Frances Hatley Rogers Lowder, 85, of 527 Meadow Rock Drive, Albemarle, died at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at her home.

Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday in West Albemarle Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Brent Pope officiated and burial was in New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born Aug. 27 1922, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Gurney Ernest and Lula Hatley Hatley and was educated at Millingport School.

She was first married to Guy Glenn Rogers and second to Bruce Edward Lowder, both of whom preceded her in death. A brother, Kenneth Hatley, and three sisters, Elaine Frick, Eldora Hatley and Rachel Burleson, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Glenn Rogers of Winston-Salem, Guy Steven Rogers of Concord and Randy Ray Rogers of Albemarle; three daughters, Vickie Carol Rogers Lowder of Albemarle, Janice Ann Rogers Poplin of Norwood and Deborah Sue Rogers Smith of Albemarle; two brothers O.D. Hatley of Locust and Gurney E. Hatley Jr., of Albemarle; three sisters, Elizabeth Eudy, Edna Jewell Joyner and Marie Holt, all of Albemarle; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Stanly Funeral Home was in charge.
