Donnie Rebecca Hipp

LOGANSPORT, IN - Donnie Rebecca (Watson) Hipp, 82, of Logansport, Ind., passed away in her sleep early Monday, May 25, 2009, at her daughter's residence.

Born March 13, 1927, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late John Edgar and Claudie Watson Fite.

Mrs. Hipp was a member of Beulah Land Baptist Church for many years. She was also an avid gardener, raising vegetables for her family and was especially fond of the flowers she grew. Earlier in her life, Donnie loved bowling, winning many tournaments. Mrs. Hipp loved spending all of her free time with her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were three brothers, James Watson, Raymond Watson and Tommy Fite; one sister, Doris Wilkerson; and one grandson, Keith "Scooter" Waller.

Survivors include her husband, James Hipp, whom she married Sept. 22, 1945, in Salisbury. They were married for 63 years. Other survivors include three daughters, Patricia McHugh (Mike) of Logansport, Ind., Brenda Honeycutt (Leon) of Salisbury, and Linda Trexler (Ronnie) of Gold Hill; one son, David Wayne Hipp (Jekolia) of Rockwell; one brother, Ronald Fite (Rachel) of Salisbury; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Service: 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, in the James C. Lyerly Chapel. The Rev. Ted Davis will officiate. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
