Alice Holshouser Linker

Alice Holshouser Linker, 94, of Rockwell, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018. She was born October 31, 1923, in Rowan County to the late John Calvin and Eleanor Brown Holshouser. 

Mrs. Linker was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School and retired from the Town of Rockwell after 22 years as Town Clerk. She was a lifelong member of Ursinus United Church of Christ in Rockwell and was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star # 317 in Rockwell, receiving her 60 year membership pin. She was also active with the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, holding leadership positions at the state level and helped organize the Historic Rockwell Foundation. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Linker was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee “A.L.” Linker, brothers, Carl Holshouser and Earl Holshouser, and sister, Grace Beaver.

She is survived by her children, David Linker and wife, Peggy, of Salisbury, John Linker and wife, Linda, of Granite Quarry, Allen Linker and wife, Glenda, of Salisbury, Lynn Linker and wife, Kay, of Rockwell, and Tim Linker and wife, Katie, of Rockwell, brothers, John Holshouser of Myrtle Beach, SC, Phillip Holshouser of Charlotte, Richard Holshouser of Sanford, sister, Ruth Beaver of Charlotte, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Thursday, February 8, at Ursinus United Church of Christ in Rockwell. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Thursday in the sanctuary, conducted by Rev. Catherine Costello, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Ursinus United Church of Christ, Rockwell; or NC Eastern Star Retirement Home, Greensboro.
