Doris Nelson Shaver
Doris Nelson Shaver, 87, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents: Sam and Myrtice Nelson; two daughters: Kay Shaver Hopkins, Karen Jeanette Shaver and brother, Eddie Ray Nelson.
Doris leaves behind her husband, Hubert Paul Shaver of the home; two sons: Steve Shaver and wife Gayle of Council, Sammy Shaver and wife Christine of Clarkton; brother, Thomas Wayne Nelson and wife Lorraine of Fayetteville; sister, Mary Ellen Stanton of Florida; seven grandchildren: David Wayne Hopkins (Kim), Jeremy Paul Shaver (Chasity), Ashley Hopkins, Courtney Guyton, April Smith (Charlie), Lindsie Nicole Shaver, Wendy Gale Shaver; and ten great-grandchildren.
Doris was married to the love of her life, Hubert Paul Shaver for 70 years. She adored her family. Some of her hobbies included: gardening, crossword puzzles, stock market, watching Days of Our Lives, eating at McDonald’s and visiting the ponds on their property.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 17th at 2pm in the Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home Chapel in Elizabethtown with Rev. Chris Carlyle officiating service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Plains Presbyterian Church, 6155 White Plains Church Rd, Council, NC.
