Edna Mae Elwood Trexler

GOLD HILL - Mrs. Edna Mae Elwood Trexler, 86, of Gold Hill, passed Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Genesis Healthcare in Salisbury.

She was born April 5, 1928, in Cabarrus County, to the late Ebb Harmon and Ethel Mae Petrea Elwood.

Edna attended J.W. Cannon High School and retired from Celanese as a cutter. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Senior Citizen Group and also a member of the Powles Funeral Home TLC Group.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, to whom she was married for 55 years prior, John Albert Trexler, Sr., who passed away March 7, 2003; brothers, James A. Elwood, Ralph Elwood, Eugene Elwood and Ebb Harmon "E.H." Elwood; and sisters, Margaret E. Rogers and Ruby E. Hardin.

She is survived by her son, Mr. John A. Trexler, Jr., of Gold Hill; daughter, Mrs. Barbara Trexler Morgan of Richfield; brother, Mr. Robert V. Elwood of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Lisa Lloyd, Daniel Morgan, Cherri Martin, Jennifer Clay; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rockwell. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the church, conducted by Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
