Peggy Herrin Rary

SALISBURY - Peggy Herrin Rary, 75, of Salisbury, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Rowan Regional Medical Center after an illness of six weeks.

Born Nov. 5, 1934, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Monroe and Bernice Lowder Herrin. She was educated in Rowan County schools and graduated from China Grove High School.

Mrs. Rary was employed at Cannon Mills Swink Plant and later as a cashier at Food Lion 10, Jake Alexander Boulevard, before retiring.

She was a member of Stallings Memorial Baptist Church and was Sunday School teacher of Faith Bible Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Kenneth Rary, Sr., on Dec. 1, 1983; and her brothers, Junior, Joe and Cecil Herrin.

She is survived by her children, James Kenneth "Jim" Rary, Jr. and wife Shelia of Clayton, Vickie Rary Doblovosky of the home, Michael Wayne "Mickey" Rary of Salisbury, Tony Alan Rary and wife Carol of Smyrna, Tenn., Jeffrey Dale "Jeff" Rary and wife Angela of Belleville, N.J., and Sybil Dawn Rary of the home; brother Gerald Herrin and wife Bonnie of Faith; sisters Doris Rota and husband John of Washington and Joyce Clark of Danbury; grandchildren Hope and Brooke Rary, Stanley Doblovosky and wife Heidi, Stephanie Doblovosky of the home, Michael and Marlowe Rary, Crystal Wolfe and husband James, Rocky, Lauren and Brianna Rary; and great-grandchildren Katie, Anna and Kevin Doblovosky, Destiny, Luke and Jesse Wolfe.

Service: Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Bryan, Rev. Ron Touchton and Rev. Robert Heard officiating. Mrs. Rary will lie in-state 30 minutes before the service. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Summersett Funeral Home, and at other times, will be at the home of Mickey Rary, 4180 Trexler St.

Memorials: May be made to Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, Music Fund.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
