SALISBURY - Grover Jacob Brown, 66, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Born Nov. 17, 1944 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Sidney Floyd and Lucy Harwood Brown. Educated in the Rowan County schools, Mr. Brown was a former member of Christiana Lutheran Church, and was owner/operator of Brown Construction. He loved his extended family and friends and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lonnie and Sidney "Buddy" Brown and sisters, Patricia "Pat" Davis and Bonnie Guiton.
Family members left with cherished memories include his companion, Spring Bame*; former wife, Elizabeth Brown; sons, James Brown (Laura), Salisbury, Michael Brown (Tina), Kodak, Tenn., Steven Brown (Susan), Tulsa, OK and Bradley Brown (Nicky), Salisbury; daughters, Alice Shaver (Rich), Sterling, Ill., Marie Brown (Anthony), Davie, Fla., Scarlett Sechler, Salisbury and Summer Black (Joe), China Grove; brother, Floyd Brown of Salisbury; sisters, Mary Earnhardt (Sonny), Salisbury and Alma Lee Reid, Collettsville; 26 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 29, 7-9 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.
Services: Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Walt Lyman. Burial will follow in Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials: May be made to Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, POB 568, China Grove, NC, to help the family with funeral costs.
