Max Byron Still

SALISBURY - Max Byron Still, 91, of Salisbury, died on Friday (Nov. 18, 2005) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after three years of illness. Mr. Still was born on July 24, 1914 in Stanly County, to the late Ruth Mary Kirk Still and Daniel Clifford Still. He attended the Kathleen School in Lakeland, Fla. Mr. Still was manager of the Service Distributing Company on North Main Street and retired after 38 years of service. He was a member of Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir and of the Men 's Sunday School Class. Mr. Still was also a member and served as director of the Cone Mill Hat Band director and was a member of the Salisbury Elks Club and the Singing Seniors.

Mr. Still was preceded in death by his wife Mary Rose Kirk Still on June 11, 1985 and by a grandson Eddie Lambeth who died on January 21, 2003. He is survived by a daughter Buena Still Lambeth and her husband Dean of Cumming, Ga.; two brothers Thaxter Still of Lakeland, Fla. and Thomas Still of Lakeland, Fla.; two grandchildren Tony Lambeth of Atlanta, Ga. and Melissa Ferrell and her husband Bill of Raleigh; two great-grandchildren Polly Kirk Ferrell and Allie Rose Ferrell of Raleigh and several nieces and nephews.

Service: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Summersett Memorial Chapel. It will be conducted by Rev. Cynthia L. Mackey.

Burial: Rowan Memorial Park. Visitation: 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Summersett Funeral Home.

Memorials: Rowan Regional Medical Center Foundation, or to Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church.
