Minnie Lowder

Minnie Ellen Almond Lowder, 84 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday night, November 7, 2014, after months of declining health.

Born in Stanly County, June 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Leander Almond and the late Lotha Ellen Eudy Almond.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gaston Delmar Lowder Sr.; two daughters, Linda Gail Lewis Donahue and Shirley Lowder Burleyson; a granddaughter, Jackie Gaynelle Lowder Lowery; two sisters, Jennie Helms and Mary Sloop; and six brothers, Henry, Lloyd, Coy, Clarence, Floyd and Walter.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Christian Herring and the Rev. Keith Walters, was at 3 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014, at Kendalls Baptist Church. A 30 minute state preceded the service. The burial followed in the church cemetery.

At other times the family will be meeting at the home of her sister, Esther Talbert.

She is survived by two sons, Gaston Junior Lowder and wife Pat of Albemarle and Steve Lowder of Albemarle; two sons-in-law, Joseph John Donahue of Kannapolis and Steve Burleyson of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren, Lisa Ann Donahue of Greenville, S.C., Joseph Lee Donahue of Matthews, Dwight Lowder and wife Teresa, Kenneth Lowder, Jan Burris and Dale Burris, all of Albemarle, and Terry Burleyson and wife Angie of Kernersville; 13 great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; and sister, Esther Almond Talbert of Albemarle.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC; and Kendalls Baptist Church Building Fund, 32157 Kendalls Church Road, New London, NC.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Lowder family.
